CHAIR

As a chair you will be the “FACE” of Erasmus Extreme and responsible for leading the board and the committees through directing, coordinating, coaching and motivating. You also are in charge of the overall strategy and making sure the association keeps growing.

SKILLS NEEDED

  • Leadership: As a leader you are able to keep the team motivated, influence without dominating, facilitate and be ready to make calculated decisions when needed. 
  • Public relations: As the “Face” of the organization, you constantly represent Erasmus Extreme on campus and with external parties. You always have a speech ready to sell Erasmus Extreme. 
  • Communication: You are able to communicate and convey the right message to the right person. You also need to facilitate the communication within the association.
  • Coaching skills: The role is to “conduct the orchestra” rather than play the loudest tune. You are able to coach and get the best out of each member.
  • Passion: You are passionate about your position, your team and the goal of Erasmus Extreme. You also enjoy extreme sports, no need to be an expert but enjoy getting out your comfort zone.
  • High emotional intelligence: You are able to understand others' needs and build effective relationships with them. You can make everyone feel confident and safe enough to share their views.
  • Organizational skills: You are able to keep the organization “tidy” and well structured. Also, the ability to lead meetings is essential.

TREASURER

As the Treasurer of Erasmus Extreme you are one of the most important pillars of the organisation. You are required to maintain structure with regards to the financial plans of the association. Moreover, you will serve as a point of consult for the other committees, and thus need to be aware of all ongoing operations in the organization. You will be working together with all other committees of the association on a continuous basis.

SKILLS NEEDED

  • Structure: As Treasurer you are required to keep account of a large amount of different administrative/financial information. Doing this in a structured manner is of importance for the efficient continuity of the association. 
  • Accounting/Finance skills: You are required to constantly keep account of association earnings and spendings. You will make decisions regarding feasibility of association spendings, like: marketing expenditures, social events, asset purchases, etc.
  • Problem solving skills: There will be times where a direct and easy solution to a problem is not possible, you need to show problem solving skills, flexibility and creativity in order to resolve this. 
  • Flexibility: You are required to be able to show flexibility in order to adapt to working with others. Insights of your fellow board are important to consider.
  • Excellent communication skills: It is required that you can communicate your thoughts / important information regarding the finances of the organisation in a structured and effective manner to those that are in consultation with you.
  • Teamwork: As part of the Board, you are required to be able to work together efficiently in order for the association to be successful.

HEAD OF MARKETING

As a head of marketing you will be responsible for the extensive association promotion, updating all social media platforms, branding and effectively sharing the message and values of the association to other people. You will also be in charge of the marketing committee, where you will share creativity, skills and social media strategies.

  • Creativity: You are able to create graphical footage for promotions and creative ideas for marketing plans
  • Photoshop / Video Editing skills / Canva: You will be responsible for creation of flyers, posters and promotions, photos and videos, so being able to work with these programs will be an advantage
  • Photography passion: As Head of marketing, you will be responsible for updating photos and videos from all events happening
  • Team player mindset: In order to be part of the board, you need to be able to work effectively in a team, be open for receiving and giving feedback and come up with solutions for problems
  • Responsibility: You will be responsible for the marketing committee, that you will have to lead efficiently in order to create effective marketing plans

HEAD OF EVENTS

Surfing, wakeboarding, skydiving? Your own creativity is the limit. As the Head of Events you are responsible for organizing activities for our members. It is an opportunity for you to develop practical skills and learn to operate in a business environment. You will work closely with our partners such as O’Neill or MyProtein to prepare sponsored events. Finally, you will lead your own team, which will support you throughout the year.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Problem-solving
  • Organization of events for 10-1800 people
  • Logistics of working with sponsors and partners
  • Leadership skills
  • WordPress for building websites
  • Lots of experience with extreme sports and getting out of your comfort zone!

SKILLS NEEDED

  • Proactiveness: You are an ambitious individual ready to take initiative, challenge yourself and get fully involved within the organization. 
  • Creativity: Organizing fun, successful events requires you to come up with unique ideas and initiatives while considering the resources and constraints you face.
  • Excellent organizational skills: You are in charge of the general timeline and logistics of the events as well as your team’s schedule. Action plan is needed to be set at least 3 weeks before an activity.
  • Great time-management: As a Head of Events you constantly control what has to be done and deal with many stakeholders and partners at the same time.
  • Team player: You will cooperate with all the committees, the board and collaborate with other associations. Additionally, you will lead your own team of 2-3 people.
  • Passion:  You are passionate about your position, your team and the goal of Erasmus Extreme. You also enjoy extreme sports, no need to be an expert but enjoy getting out your comfort zone. 
  • Negotiation skills: It is your objective to obtain the best prices possible and establish long-term relationships with the companies you work with.

 

HEAD OF TRIPS

As the trip organiser you will be in charge of organising the two most popular events of Erasmus Extreme; the Ski trip and the Surf trip. Your job will be to create an unforgettable journey for a large group of extreme sport enthusiasts.

SKILLS NEEDED

  • Negotiation skills: As the trip organiser you will have to communicate with external parties in order to attain the best possible deals and prices for the trips. 
  • Communication skills: Additionally, a good line of communication has to be kept with the members before, during, and after the journey in order for everyone to stay informed at all times.
  • Leadership skills: During the trips, you will be in charge of leading a group of 50-80 people while keeping an energetic and fun atmosphere as well as making sure every member is having a great time.
  • Organisational skills: The organising of the trips starts early, it is therefore important to stay structured and divide the workload and successfully assess which task needs to be done first. Furthermore, you will be dealing with a lot of information from each member, which has to be processed and stored in an organised manner (a good base of Excel skills is very helpful).
  • Team work: You will have to cooperate with the other committees, such as the marketing team in order to create a successful and innovative marketing strategy for the trips.
  • Creativity: In order to organise an unforgettable experience for all the members, you will have to come up with creative ways to hype the participants before the trip as well as fun activities to do during the trips.
  • Problem solving skills: When organising the trips you will come across many important decisions to make such as where and when the trips will take place as well as the capacity, the profit margin etc. which will affect the organising of the trips. Additionally, you might be faced with unexpected problems demanding creativity, flexibility, and critical thinking in order to make the best decision.

HEAD OF EXTERNAL RELATIONS

Becoming the External Relations Manager for Erasmus Extreme gives you the opportunity to lead the external relations team and work together with very interesting companies: O’Neill, Redbull, the North Face, and many more other possibilities.

SKILLS NEEDED

  • Leadership qualities: You will be responsible for leading a 2-3 person team. You need to show leadership and ambition to spread out the name of Erasmus Extreme through working with companies. 
  • Sales skills: In order to be able to appeal to potential partners, you need to have some proficiency in the sales area. First impressions are of utmost importance, and you need to be able to assess the company and convince them to work together. 
  • Excellent communication skills: this in combination with sales skills are highly important in order to succeed in appealing to potential partners, and maintaining older relations. Furthermore, as you work in a team of External Relations, and also in a team of Board Members, you are required to effectively and efficiently communicate important information in a structured manner. 
  • Creativity: You need to be able to continuously come up with interesting collaboration ideas to attract companies and therefore collaborate  with the Activities Team. 
  • Structure: As External Relations Manager you need to be able to put structure in your work, in order to lead the team and constantly keep in contact with companies. 
  • Teamwork skills: Last but certainly not least, being able to work in teams is of utmost importance. You are working in a team of around 3 people, you will need to sit together and brainstorm a lot in order to come up with new ideas.
